How to choose a stone bird bath
We recommend checking bowl width and depth before choosing a shape or finish. Birds need very shallow, sloping sides and a maximum water depth of about 10cm. A bowl should be as wide as possible, ideally more than 30cm across. These measurements come from the RSPB bird bath advice. Check the bowl measurements on each listing, rather than judging its size from the photograph.
Height affects which animals can reach the water and how easily you can clean the bowl. Weight affects stability and the help you need during placement. Read the material label carefully: cast stone, crushed marble and resin, natural stone and aluminium are different materials. Our sandstone bird baths are worth comparing if you want natural stone. For nearby decoration, browse stone garden ornaments and bird garden ornaments. Compare stone water features if you want a separate water feature. Check stone plinths separately; a bird bath still needs a firm, level base.
What the range is made from
Most of our bird baths are cast stone. Our makers include Melmar, Lucas Stone, Enigma and Eastern Connections. Lucas Stone designs are handcrafted in Britain, with Aged Cotswold or Burnt Umber finishes.
We also have crushed marble and resin baths from Enigma, plus Melmar's modern white and grey designs. Eastern Connections makes our natural stone baths in granite, basalt, limestone or sandstone. The Mermaid Bird Bath is cast aluminium.
Most of our bird baths are in stock. Some specialist pieces, such as Lucas Stone designs handcrafted in Britain, are made to order. Delivery times vary by maker.

Matt's Pick
Georgian Stone Birdbath
Best for: Gardens where you want a low bath that ground-feeding birds, hedgehogs and frogs can reach.
Why we rate it: One of our most popular cast stone baths over the last year, it's handcrafted in Britain by Lucas Stone. The reconstituted stone bath has a 56cm bowl, sits 18cm high and weighs 38kg, so it stays put. It's our lowest-priced bird bath, with Aged Cotswold or Burnt Umber finishes. It weathers naturally with moss and lichen.
Price: £175
Height, weight and handling
The Georgian is 180mm high, with a 560mm bowl reachable by ground-feeding birds, hedgehogs, frogs and newts. Low bowls mean bending down to clean; taller pedestals put the bowl higher. The Low Height model is 360mm tall, with a 550mm bowl. It suits patio edges where full pedestals look too tall. The tallest option is the 1050mm Ornate Pedestal Stone Birdbath, which weighs 110kg.
Listed weights span 16kg for the Modern Grey model to 111kg for the Rococo. A low bath can still be heavy: the Low Height model weighs 76kg. We recommend planning the final position and access route before delivery. Arrange suitable help for heavy pieces, and check whether your chosen pedestal arrives in sections.
Prepare the base before delivery
Use a firm, level base such as a paving slab or compacted gravel. Uneven lawn can make a pedestal lean over time. Heavy pieces stay put without fixing, but need suitable help to move. Lucas Stone books deliveries by phone, so use that call to plan access.
Budget and delivery times
Most of our bird baths sit between about £200 and £300, with a few below and a few above. The cheapest is the Georgian Stone Birdbath at £175. Compare its low profile and 38kg weight alongside the price before choosing.
Delivery is free, with lead times set by the maker. Eastern Connections delivers within 10 working days; Melmar takes 10 to 14 working days. Enigma takes 14 to 21 working days. Lucas Stone takes four to six weeks and books delivery by phone. Lucas Stone's free delivery covers mainland England and Wales only, not Scotland. Most bird baths are in stock, while some specialist pieces, such as Lucas Stone designs, are made to order.
"We stock cast stone, resin blends and natural stone so you can choose the material that suits your garden. We recommend comparing the bowl measurements and listed weight before ordering."
